Caitlin Clark added another major achievement to her growing résumé Friday night, producing the first game of at least 40 points and 10 assists in WNBA history.
The Indiana Fever guard finished with a career-high 45 points and 10 assists as Indiana defeated the Seattle Storm 110-107 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Her scoring total also established a new single-game franchise record for the Fever.
Clark Delivers a Record-Breaking Performance
Clark contributed across nearly every area of the game, adding four steals and two blocked shots to her 45 points and 10 assists.
It was the first 40-point performance of her WNBA career and made her the first player in league history to combine at least 40 points with double-digit assists in one game. The performance helped Indiana improve to 15-10 on the season.
Clark entered the game following a difficult shooting performance in Indiana’s loss to the Golden State Valkyries. Against Seattle, however, she quickly rediscovered her rhythm and helped the Fever produce one of their most explosive offensive displays of the season.
Indiana scored 37 points during the opening quarter, matching its highest-scoring first period of the season. Clark contributed five points, five assists and two steals during the quarter, while Kelsey Mitchell scored 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting.
Fever Build an Early Lead
Indiana used its fast start to take control of the game.
During the second quarter, Clark scored 10 points as part of a 12-4 Fever run. She completed the stretch with a three-pointer that increased Indiana’s advantage to 49-32 with 7:28 remaining before halftime.
Seattle refused to let the game get away, however. The Storm gradually reduced the deficit and turned the closing minutes into a tense battle.
Dominique Malonga led Seattle with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Flau’jae Johnson and Awa Fam added 16 points each, while Natisha Hiedeman and Jade Melbourne both finished with 15.
Clark Takes Over in the Final Minute
With the Fever protecting a narrow lead, Clark made important plays on both ends of the court.
With less than a minute remaining, she raced back on defense and blocked Johnson’s attempted fast-break layup. Clark then connected on a three-pointer from the left wing to give Indiana a 105-102 advantage.
Seattle continued applying pressure, but Clark converted all four of her free-throw attempts during the final 17 seconds to help secure the 110-107 victory.
The late sequence captured the completeness of her performance. Clark created scoring opportunities, made a crucial defensive play and delivered from the free-throw line when the Fever needed her most.
Clark Reaches 200 Career Three-Pointers
Clark also reached another WNBA milestone during the victory.
She became the fastest player in league history to make 200 career three-pointers, reaching the mark in her 74th regular-season game. Katie Smith previously held the record after reaching 200 three-pointers in 81 games.
The accomplishment further demonstrates Clark’s impact as a long-range shooter. Since entering the league as the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, her shooting range and playmaking have made her one of the most difficult guards to defend.
Kelsey Mitchell Adds 30 Points
Although Clark produced the historic numbers, Indiana also received another major performance from Kelsey Mitchell.
Mitchell scored 30 points, giving the Fever two players with at least 30 points in the same game. Monique Billings added 16 points as Indiana overcame the absence of Aliyah Boston, who did not play because of a leg issue.
Mitchell’s scoring forced Seattle to divide its defensive attention. That created additional space for Clark to attack, shoot from long distance and find teammates.
The combined production of Clark and Mitchell proved essential as Seattle continued answering Indiana’s scoring runs.
A Historic Night for Clark and the Fever
Clark’s 45-point performance represented more than an individual career high.
She established a Fever franchise scoring record, became the fastest WNBA player to make 200 three-pointers and recorded the league’s first 40-point, 10-assist game—all during the same victory.
For Indiana, the result was also an important win in a close game. The Fever remained composed as Seattle erased most of their early lead and found a way to execute during the final possessions.
Clark has already produced several historic performances during her professional career, but her record-breaking night against Seattle may stand as one of her most complete games yet.
